On the Blog: Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer

Well this week I have switched my toilet reading to Whisslet, Dolgener and Kole's best selling The Non-Runner Marathon Trainer. It is a good book, and the two lead authors have used the format that the book covers to teach a class at university over several which culminates in running a Marathon. The class requires running homework, and recording your weekly mileage, how they felt and other notes.

The obvious question is what the hell am I doing with a book on how to run a Marathon, well I am just looking at it at the moment, as the 16 week training programme doesn't start for a few weeks yet, and I am already doing the necessary mileage. Although I am not looking forward to having to run 18+ miles in one go towards the end of the training programme.

I was loaned the book by Rob @ V12, it should help me prepare well for my run. I have had a little skim read today, worked out I am neither flat footed nor do I have a over pronounce arch. I am somewhat normal and boring. Its first piece of advice is to buy a good pair of running shoes, which I probably need to wait for my wages to go into my account, although my current shoes are OK, although they might not last till October!
